Marceline Abadeer by OtakuRose Marceline Abadeer by OtakuRose
Does anyone else think Marcy's full name sounds really cool? No?
K just me then.

Anyways, Adventure Time fan art! I drew this for a fan art video for a contest (the prize was a DVD of the new episode "Bad Little Boy!") but in the end I didn't win. I still felt like submitting this since I've been working on it all week! I don't have much to say about it other than her hair was fun and please excuse the fail perspective on her axe bass. Drawing that thing gave me so much trouble guys.

I have some gripes with this though. I'm not satisfied with how I drew her eyes, they're way too big for the kind of style I want to achieve. That and the lines before editing this were a mess. Can someone teach me how to draw thin, non-scratchy lines? I use Microns in 05 and 01, but I still end up with really thick ugly lines. Why is line art so difficult for me ;~;

Hope you guys like it!

Done with Copic Markers and Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils, pretty heavily edited on Photofiltre, random background done on Paint Tool Sai.

My tradish lineart is pretty horrendous (lol which is why I do mostly digital these days) so I'm probably not the best person to try and give advice, but if you want like really thin lines maybe you could try a 005 (0.05) liner? I have a pack of Prismacolor fine liners and the smallest one is 005 which is like insanely thin?? XD I can't handle how thin it is haha I only use it for really tiny details on the rare times I do tradish stuff; I usually use 03 or 05 ouo;
As for non scratchy lines all I can really suggest is doing slower longer strokes? So like don't do like 3 short strokes for one line segment? Steady hands really help with this XD It's hard though seeing as even if my hands are pretty steady my lines wobble a bit and it bothers me a ton... oAo

I used to use a 005 liner (at least I had one, I'm not sure if I used it much xD) But it's so tiny I'm afraid that it's going to break off or something! XD; Haha I usually vary from a 05 and a 01, it's one of those Micron pens though, I really want some Prismacolor liners ;_;
And that's actually some pretty good advice to me! Thanks C:

Yeah that's why I don't use mine much either XD It's so tiny I'm scared I'll break it since I tend to press down pretty hard ouo; I heard Micron pens are nice though? o: I sorta wanna get some sepia Prismacolor liners though.. I don't like the look of black lines they seem too dark XD
Oh well you're welcome then~ c:

I don't press down too hard, which might be why I have scratchy lines sometimes :S They are actually! But I think the Multi-liners would be better for me~ I use sepia Micron pens, it's just after going over the lines so much makes it go black! :U Its nice for outlining skin and light warm colors, but not really for darker or colder colors. I mainly want some gray pens for outlining white! ;w;

It's actually such a bad habit pressing so hard when I write or draw ;w;" Long exams especially english ones are really painful for me by the end since sometimes they make you write in pen which in itself makes me press down super hard since my pen sucks and added to my habit of doing so anyways... results in a really really sore wrist after OTL

Hmm I've never seen a grey pen before o: Do you know of any brands that make those?

Maybe you could use a better pen? I put so much stress on my hand when I write papers because I write really fast but at least once I finish I can take the rest of my time to get my hand to work xD;;

I think PrismaColor sells some! I only know they exist because one of my favorite Copic artists uses them :3
